Rimorchiatori takes delivery of Damen tug

News Tug and passenger vessel

Constructed from Damen’s ASD Tug 2411 design, the azimuthing stern drive tug will be temporarily deployed by operating company Tug Malta, a subsidiary of Rimorchiatori Riuniti.

Itself named ‘Malta’ and flying the Maltese flag, the 24.5-metre x 10.7-metre x 5.35-metre vessel will be available for work in the Mediterranean region by Tug Malta.

Constructed in Vietnam and also meeting Italian flag regulations, the built-to-stock vessel achieves an ahead bollard pull of 72.5 tonnes and an astern output of 66.7 tonnes.

A pair of Caterpillar 3516C main engines powers the vessel, driving twin Rolls-Royce azimuthing thrusters.

The vessel’s service speed is 13.4 knots.
