Accommodation
DSB Offshore are pioneers in offshore accommodation having organised modules to put onto a jack-up with a 500t crane for work in UK’s Southern gas fields in the early eighties. We believe that this was the first time that an accommodation jack-up was used in the North Sea.Jack-ups are used for construction work in the Gulf of Mexico (mainly self propelled), Arabian Gulf and to a limited extent in the North Sea.
In addition to accommodation most jack-ups have deck space and a crane that can place equipment onto fixed platforms.
Most of the work undertaken by these jack-ups involves maintenance and occasional platform construction.
It is likely that these jack-ups will be used increasingly for limited work-over in view of the high costs of drilling rigs.
